Battery costs vary significantly by chemistry. LFP (LiFePO4) batteries cost $300-400/kWh and last longest. NMC lithium-ion is $400-550/kWh with higher energy density. Lead-acid is cheapest at $150-250/kWh but has shorter lifespan and lower usable capacity. The federal ITC provides a 30% tax credit on battery storage installed with or without solar.
