How It Works
Net metering lets you send excess solar energy to the grid in exchange for credits on your electric bill. In most states, credits are at the full retail rate. You still pay the fixed monthly charge regardless of solar production. Some utilities offer 1:1 net metering while others credit at a lower wholesale rate.
