How It Works

Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) is the total cost of a solar system divided by the total energy it produces over its lifetime. Residential solar LCOE is typically 5-10 cents per kWh after the federal tax credit, compared to average grid rates of 14-16 cents. LCOE decreases over time as upfront cost is spread over more kWh of production.
